Rumor Mongering - Glove Love & Shoe Shopping

Gary Payton's Book

There’s been a small kettle of Gary Payton to the Warriors rumors bubbling for the last few months. He and players like Baron Davis have been questioned about it and the answers have all been non-committal and vaguely positive.

Golden State of Mind has followed the scent consistently and recently put together some more links and thoughts about it here.

I don’t like the idea. GP is moldy in NBA years and I remember thinking he looked slow and should have retired two seasons ago (averaged 7.7 pts & 3.2 assists with MIA ‘05-06). As a backup for Baron, with the sole responsibility of not turning the ball over and making some passes it might work. But C.J. Watson is doing that and looks like he might up his game at any moment.

The old guys have taken their licks trying to play with the Warriors this season. THud’s career might be over and Cro’s back is a huge mess. I’m voting no on the Glove in the primaries. Let the Quiet Storm keep us guessing.

Shoe

The trade deadline is just under a month away and it feels like some kind of shoe is going to drop, but what fits?

Here’s a detailed piece by Tim Kawakami from his blog, Talking Points, covering the big moves that Mully’s probably not going to make and why.
